The window closes whether or not the turnover is done
A bonus carries a time limit, and the limit applies to completing the whole obligation. When it passes with turnover outstanding, the consequence is stated in the terms — usually the bonus and anything derived from it is removed, and what remains depends on the specific clause.

What "expiry" usually means
The common pattern is that a bonus has a validity period starting when it is credited, and that the turnover must be completed inside it. On expiry with turnover outstanding, terms typically provide for the bonus funds and any winnings attributable to them to be withdrawn, with the player's own deposited balance remaining in some form. The exact handling differs, and some sets of terms also cap how much can be converted even when the turnover is cleared in time.
Two consequences matter more than the wording. First, expiry converts an obligation into a deadline, and deadlines create exactly the pressure that makes a staking plan collapse. Second, expiry is not the only way a bonus ends: a maximum-bet breach, a withdrawal request made before turnover is complete, or staking in an excluded category can each end it earlier.
The questions that resolve a deadline quickly
- 01
When does the clock start?
At credit, at first stake, or at registration. The difference can be hours or days, and it is stated.
- 02
Does requesting a withdrawal end it early?
Often yes. Many sets of terms treat a withdrawal request while turnover is outstanding as forfeiting the bonus. If so, "take out the deposit first" is not a workable plan.
- 03
Does a bonus extend it?
Some terms allow a new bonus to replace or extend an existing one, and some explicitly do not. Mixing bonuses is a frequent source of confusion about which terms are in force.
- 04
What is the maximum convertible?
Look for a cap on what bonus play can be converted into real balance. It bounds the upside of clearing at all, which is directly relevant to whether the staking is worth it.
The deadline is where bonus incentives and personal pace collide most visibly. If completing the turnover in time requires you to stake at a rate you would not otherwise choose, that is not a reason to raise your rate — it is the clearest signal available that the right answer is to decline the bonus, or to stop and accept the expiry.
